Cada año se lanzan al mercado nuevas fórmulas de productos para el aseo personal, cosméticos y limpieza¦ pero antes de llegar a las estanterías de supermercados y perfumerías, han atravesado una serie de pruebas innecesarias, dejando atrás millones de animales mutilados, quemados, gaseados y sacrificados.

Mutilar, envenenar, irradiar, quemar, congelar, inyectar, operar quirúrgicamente a seres vivos sanos -que sufren y sienten- que no necesitan ningún tipo de operación, producirles cánceres y tumores, descargas eléctricas, privarles de comer y beber, forzarles a ingerir alcohol en contra de su voluntad y su naturaleza, o inhalar el humo de tabaco, son acciones claramente cuestionables y condenables porque manifiestan un alto grado de sadismo y una flagrante carencia de sensibilidad y de rigor científico, que proporcionan, sin embargo, beneficios millonarios a los fabricantes.

A menudo se cree que las Directivas Europeas y la Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act de EEUU exigen las pruebas con animales, pero no es así, por lo que millones de ellos siguen siendo víctimas inocentes de experimentos crueles y dolorosos.
La FDA insta a los laboratorios a llevar a cabo las pruebas necesarias para evaluar la toxicidad de sus productos pero no indica cómo, y los laboratorios experimentan sus productos con animales vivos por inercia y tradición, y porque es barato, pero no porque los resultados tengan mayor valor científico.

Podemos ejercer presión como consumidores. Quizá algunos laboratorios prefieran los intereses económicos a las implicaciones éticas, pero se pueden modificar sus políticas mediante boicots y campañas de protesta. Cada estación dispara la venta de productos (en verano: protectores, bronceadores y after-sun. . . ), y algunos de ellos han causado sufrimiento y muerte innecesarios en animales.

Cada vez que vamos al supermercado, podemos ayudar a los animales.

Every year new formulations are launched for personal care products, cosmetics and cleaning; but before reaching the shelves of supermarkets and perfumeries, have experienced a series of unnecessary tests, leaving behind millions of animals mutilated, burned, gassed and slaughtered.
